Residence card in Poznań 2026 — case status, voivodeship office address, hours and card collection

In Poznań residence cases are handled by the Foreigners Department of the Wielkopolska Voivodeship Office, and clients are served at pl. Wolności 17 — that is where you go to give fingerprints and collect your card. The application is filed electronically in MOS, but after that the case runs the Poznań way: the status is visible in the office app, from which you book fingerprints and card collection, correspondence goes to a different address than client service, and file inspection has a weekly limit of slots. Below are the addresses, numbers, hours and accounts we checked on the office website on 6 October 2026. If you would rather have a representative run the case from the start, see residence legalisation online.

Case status online — how the “Foreigners – Check your case status” app works

The Wielkopolska Voivodeship Office is one of the few that offers an app showing the stage of the proceedings: “Cudzoziemcy – Sprawdź stan sprawy” (Foreigners – Check your case status) on poznan.uw.gov.pl. To log in you need the case number and an access code. The code can be obtained on your own with a form on the office website, but only once the case has been registered, and the data in the form must be exactly as in the application — first name, surname, date of birth, citizenship, type of application and place of filing. The app works in Polish, English, Ukrainian and Russian.

The statuses are not just for reading. When the case gets the status “awaiting appearance”, you book the fingerprints visit from the panel; when “card ready for collection” appears, you book the collection from the same panel. What the panel will not show is what is missing from the file or whether the official is preparing a refusal — that is visible only when inspecting the file. How offices in other cities work is described in our article residence card in Łódź, Gdańsk, Opole and Poznań.

Addresses, phones and hours — as of October 2026

  • client service: Foreigners Department, pl. Wolności 17, 61-739 Poznań — Hall A and Hall B, Monday 9:30–18:00, Tuesday–Friday 8:15–15:15; information points in Hall B, desks 12 and 18;
  • correspondence address: Wielkopolski Urząd Wojewódzki w Poznaniu, al. Niepodległości 16/18, 61-713 Poznań — this is NOT the client service address; since 1 January 2026 electronic letters go only to the e-Doręczenia address AE:PL-89487-43442-EWAFC-19, because a letter sent via ePUAP is treated by the office as not validly filed;
  • foreigners’ hotline: 61 850 87 77, Monday 9:30–16:00, Tuesday–Friday 8:15–15:15; written questions go through the “WSC KONTAKT” form on the office website;
  • the department’s information point at the Foreigners Integration Centre, ul. Mielżyńskiego 14a, Monday–Friday 8:00–16:00;
  • afternoon service POMOC: every Tuesday and Thursday 15:15–17:15 in Hall A, extra desks for information, document intake and residence card issuance.

The Wielkopolska voivode also has four branch offices — Kalisz (ul. Kolegialna 4), Konin (Aleje 1 Maja 7), Leszno (pl. Kościuszki 4) and Piła (ul. Dzieci Polskich 26). Every type of application can be filed in each of them, but files are inspected and cards collected only where the case is handled. Hours change through notices: in 2026 the office was closed on 14 August, and a water main failure in February shortened service at pl. Wolności. We remind our clients of such changes before their visit.

Collecting a residence card in Poznań step by step

The card is collected only in person, after an online booking, at the location that handled the case. Booking works no earlier than for the next day, the pool of slots is limited, and once it runs out the app shows a message that no bookings are available — then you have to try again the next day.

  • pay 100 zł for the card (50 zł at the reduced rate) to the voivodeship office account and send proof of payment — the card is produced centrally, so, as the office writes, about a month passes between the proof of payment and collection;
  • when the status “card ready for collection” appears in the app, book a slot in the queue “CUDZOZIEMCY – Odbiór karty pobytu”; in October 2026 the office additionally issues cards on Wednesdays 15:15–17:15 and on Saturday 17 October — also only with a booking;
  • come in person with a valid passport and your previous card; a child who has turned 6 must be present at collection.

The most common problem at collection is not the queue but the data: a typo in the surname, an outdated passport number or an old address in the file. A card with an error goes back to production, and you go back to booking from scratch. That is why we check the data in the decision before the card is personalised.

Fingerprints, the document desk and file inspection

After filing in MOS you cannot simply walk in for fingerprints. The visit is booked from the case status panel once the status changes to “awaiting appearance”, or you appear on the date in the summons — since 10 February 2025 the office puts a specific date and time in the summons. Failure to appear means the application is left unexamined, i.e. the end of the case and a fee lost. The calendar in the panel is released in batches and for a short time, so it is worth checking the status regularly.

Documents for a pending case are accepted by the Direct Document Service Point in Hall B, desks 13 and 14, without a ticket and without booking, at most five cases per visit. The point gives no information about the case and does not put a stamp in the passport — for the stamp you take a ticket from queue P. File inspection takes place on working days, visits last up to 30 minutes between 8:30 and 14:00, and the number of slots per week is limited. As the representative we inspect the file for the client — you do not need to take a day off to find out what is missing.

Fees in Poznań: two accounts and a rule that changed in 2026

A residence case involves two different fees paid to two different accounts, and a transfer to the wrong account or with a generic title is one of the more common formal defects:

  • stamp duty for the permit — 340 zł for temporary residence, 440 zł for temporary residence and work, 640 zł for permanent residence or EU long-term residence — to the account of Poznań City Hall at PKO BP: 94 1020 4027 0000 1602 1262 0763; the title must name the specific case, e.g. “temporary residence and work permit — first name and surname”, a bare “stamp duty” is not enough;
  • the residence card fee — 100 zł — to the account of the Wielkopolska Voivodeship Office: 70 1010 1469 0000 3922 3100 0000, with the foreigner’s first name and surname in the title.

Since 5 March 2026 the stamp duty for a residence application is not refunded if the case ends in refusal or discontinuance. A wrongly chosen legal basis therefore costs not only months but also 340, 440 or 640 zł — the next application is paid for again. Proof of both fees is attached to the application in MOS, because you cannot pay in the system itself.

Office silence and real timelines

Since 27 April 2026 applications for temporary residence, permanent residence and EU long-term residence are filed only through MOS, and since 4 May the simplified CUKR card procedure for Ukrainian citizens has been running — the first CUKR cards were ready on 7 July. About the ordinary procedure the office states plainly that it takes considerably longer, and it publishes no average times. What each status in the app means is explained in our article residence card case status — what the statuses mean.

The statutory term for a decision is 60 days from the completion of formal defects (Article 112a(1) of the Act on Foreigners). Once it passes, you can file a ponaglenie (formal reminder), which goes into the file and obliges the office to respond. A ready ponaglenie signed by a legal counsel costs 199 zł with us, and handling the case together with a complaint about inaction costs 1199 zł; see the ponaglenie online.

How we handle cases in Poznań and what it costs

The law firm Kancelaria Radców Prawnych Bartosz Krajewski handles cases before the Wielkopolska voivode remotely. Our office is in Warsaw, but the application goes through MOS, correspondence comes to the firm’s address, and the appeal authority for the whole country is the Head of the Office for Foreigners in Warsaw. We determine the legal basis of stay, assemble documents from phone photos, file the application, watch the statuses in the app and the deadlines in summonses. You go to pl. Wolności only for fingerprints and to collect the card. We handle residence legalisation for 2200 zł, or 1900 zł at the promotional rate in online mode; official fees are paid separately.

Already have a summons from the Poznań office, or has the status not changed for months? Send us the letter — usually one conversation is enough to know what to do next. The full scope of our help is described on the page foreigners’ cases.

Frequently asked questions

How do I check the status of my residence card case in Poznań?
In the app “Cudzoziemcy – Sprawdź stan sprawy” (Foreigners – Check your case status) on poznan.uw.gov.pl — after entering the case number and access code. You can also ask on the hotline 61 850 87 77.

Client service, fingerprints and card collection: pl. Wolności 17, 61-739 Poznań, Hall A and B, Monday 9:30–18:00, Tuesday–Friday 8:15–15:15. Paper correspondence: al. Niepodległości 16/18, 61-713 Poznań. Electronic letters only to the e-Doręczenia address AE:PL-89487-43442-EWAFC-19 — via ePUAP the office treats them as not validly filed.
How do I collect a residence card in Poznań?
Only in person and only after an online booking in the queue “CUDZOZIEMCY – Odbiór karty pobytu”, once the app shows the status “card ready for collection”. Bring a valid passport and your previous card; a child aged 6 or older must be present. In October 2026 the office also issues cards on Wednesdays 15:15–17:15 and on Saturday 17 October.
Which account do I pay for a residence card in Poznań?

The stamp duty for the permit (340, 440 or 640 zł) goes to the Poznań City Hall account 94 1020 4027 0000 1602 1262 0763, with a title naming the specific case.
Is the fee refunded if the Wielkopolska voivode refuses?
No. Since 5 March 2026 the stamp duty for a residence application is not refunded in case of refusal or discontinuance. That is why the legal basis and the full set of documents must be checked before filing, not after the decision.

No. The application goes through MOS, correspondence to the representative’s address, and appeals are decided by the Head of the Office for Foreigners in Warsaw. We handle residence legalisation for 2200 zł, or 1900 zł at the promotional rate online; official fees are separate.
